Getting Started
Most businesses are approved and processing within 48 hours. Once approved, we ship your terminal or activate your online gateway right away. For businesses with complex setups, it may take a few additional days for full integration.
You'll need a valid Canadian business registration (sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation), a business bank account for deposits, a void cheque or direct deposit form, and government-issued photo ID. We'll also ask about your business type and expected monthly processing volume.
No. PaymentsPlus offers free setup for all merchant accounts. We also provide free terminal placement for qualified merchants. There are no hidden activation fees or onboarding charges.
No. We offer month-to-month service with no long-term commitments. You can cancel at any time without penalties or early termination fees. We believe in earning your business every month.
Pricing & Fees
Interchange-plus is the most transparent pricing model in payment processing. You pay the actual interchange rate set by the card networks (Visa, Mastercard) plus a small, fixed markup from us. This means you always know exactly what you're paying and why - unlike flat-rate or tiered pricing which often hides the true cost.
Our interchange-plus model typically saves businesses 15-30% compared to flat-rate processors like Square (2.65%) or Stripe (2.9% + 30¢). For businesses processing over $5,000/month, the savings are significant. Use our savings calculator or request a free quote with a side-by-side comparison.
We charge a small monthly account fee that covers your merchant account maintenance, reporting access, and PCI compliance tools. The exact amount depends on your plan. There are no surprise charges - everything is clearly outlined in your merchant agreement before you sign up.
Transactions processed before the daily cut-off time are deposited into your bank account the next business day. This applies to most Canadian bank accounts. Weekend and holiday transactions are deposited on the next business day.

We offer a full range of terminals including countertop terminals for retail, wireless terminals for restaurants and mobile businesses, smart POS systems with inventory management, and mobile card readers for on-the-go payments. All terminals support tap, chip, swipe, and PIN.
No. We offer free terminal placement for qualified merchants - you use the terminal as long as you process with us. We also offer purchase and rental options if you prefer. All terminals come with free technical support and replacement if anything goes wrong.
Yes. All our terminals support contactless (tap) payments including Visa payWave, Mastercard PayPass, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. Contactless payments are faster and increasingly preferred by consumers.
Online & E-commerce
Yes. We provide payment gateway solutions that integrate with popular e-commerce platforms including Shopify, WooCommerce, and custom websites. Our gateway supports one-time payments, recurring billing, and hosted payment pages.
Yes. Our virtual terminal lets you key in card numbers manually for phone orders, mail orders, or invoicing. It works from any web browser - no special software needed. Virtual terminal transactions are subject to card-not-present interchange rates.
Security & Compliance
PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is a set of security requirements for businesses that handle credit card data. Yes, all merchants must be PCI compliant. We make this easy by providing PCI compliance tools, self-assessment questionnaires, and guidance. Non-compliance can result in fines from card networks.
We employ multiple layers of fraud protection including real-time transaction monitoring, velocity checks, AVS (Address Verification Service), CVV verification, 3D Secure for online transactions, and chargeback alerts. Our system flags suspicious activity before it becomes a problem.
